SOC 2 & ISO 27001 Cost in Singapore (2026)

What a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audit costs a Singapore startup in 2026 — local auditor fees in SGD, MAS and PDPC alignment, timeline, and when to add CSA Cyber Trust.

Last updated: 2026-10-27

Singapore is one of the few APAC markets where both SOC 2 and ISO 27001 are routinely demanded by enterprise buyers — the first by US SaaS customers, the second by MAS-regulated financial institutions and local MNC procurement. Here's what each actually costs locally and how to choose.

Choosing Between SOC 2 and ISO 27001

Pick SOC 2 when: your customers are US SaaS companies or US enterprise buyers. The attestation is American market language and is what their vendor review teams expect.

Pick ISO 27001 when: your customers are MAS-regulated financial institutions, local MNCs, European subsidiaries, or you want certification (not attestation). ISO 27001 is the international language of security governance and travels better across geographies.

Pick both when: you sell across the US and APAC/EMEA. 70–80% of the controls overlap, so the incremental cost of adding the second is 40–60% of standalone — not 100%.

See SOC 2 vs ISO 27001 for the full decision framework.

Singapore-Specific Overlaps

MAS TRM (Technology Risk Management Guidelines). Required for MAS-regulated financial institutions. Significant overlap with ISO 27001 Annex A — most TRM controls map to ISO. If you serve banks or payment licensees in Singapore, ISO 27001 is a stronger base than SOC 2.

PDPC / PDPA. Singapore's privacy law. Not a certification but a legal requirement. Mostly satisfied by ISO 27701 or a GDPR-aligned privacy program layered on ISO 27001.

CSA Cyber Trust Mark. Government-recognised certification. For public-sector tenders or government buyers, Cyber Trust at the Advocate or Promoter tier is often required. See the Cyber Trust Mark framework.

MeitY Empanelment / UIDAI AUA/KUA. If you also serve India, see the CERT-In empanelled auditor directory for India-specific audit requirements.

Finding an Auditor in Singapore

For SOC 2, you need a US-licensed CPA firm. Options:

  • Big-four Singapore offices (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) perform SOC 2 audits via their US partner practices.
  • Specialist boutiques (A-LIGN, Schellman) have Singapore client teams but the attestation is signed by US-licensed partners.
  • Smaller US CPA firms sometimes travel to Singapore engagements — cheaper but check timezone and site-visit expectations.

For ISO 27001, you need an accredited certification body. In Singapore the common ones are BSI, DNV, SGS, LRQA, TÜV SÜD, SOCOTEC, and the Big Four's certification arms. See the ISO 27001 auditor directory.

Timeline

  • SOC 2 Type I: 2–3 months from kickoff to final report.
  • SOC 2 Type II: 9–12 months (observation + field work).
  • ISO 27001: 4–8 months (readiness + Stage 1 + Stage 2 + certificate issuance). First-year certifications from scratch are longer than annual surveillance audits.
  • Both bundled: 9–12 months if you run them in parallel from day one.

Cost-Cutting Tactics That Work in Singapore

  • Use a compliance automation platform. Sprinto, Scrut, LowerPlane, and Secureframe all operate at reasonable prices for Singapore startups. Avoid US-only platforms that convert billing in USD at full list.
  • Multi-year certification contracts. ISO 27001 CBs discount 10–20% for 3-year commitments.
  • Co-locate audits. Running SOC 2 field work and ISO 27001 Stage 2 in the same month shares internal effort.
  • Grey-box pen test, not red team. Both frameworks require it; keep scope tight.

Red Flags on Local Quotes

  • A SOC 2 quote from a non-US-licensed firm. Not an acceptable attestation.
  • An ISO 27001 quote from an unaccredited body. Confirm UKAS, ANAB, or JAS-ANZ accreditation.
  • Prices far below the ranges above with no explanation. Either scope is being interpreted narrowly or the engagement is being understaffed.
