Best SOC 2 Auditors for Startups (2026)

20 US-licensed CPA firms that routinely audit seed-to-Series B SaaS startups. Boutique and mid-size firms only — Big 4 is over-scoped for most startup audits.

How We Picked

Our shortlist is drawn from the full SOC 2 auditor directory. To make it onto this list, a firm must:

  • Hold a US CPA license.
  • Explicitly offer SOC 2 attestation services (Type I and Type II).
  • Have offices or audit teams in the US so field work and interviews can be scheduled without timezone friction.
  • Fall into the boutique or mid-size tier — fewer than ~2,000 staff. Big 4 firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) are excluded; they are over-scoped and over-priced for most startup audits.

Each firm's profile page includes typical engagement cost, frameworks covered, HQ and offices, and a request-a-quote form. This is editorial — see our methodology for how we score and rank.

Red Flags on Auditor Quotes

  • No sample redacted report. Reputable firms share them. The report is the deliverable; look at one before signing.
  • "Senior team" without named profiles. Insist on individual testers with LinkedIn profiles. Rotating juniors is why some audits miss what matters.
  • Fixed price without proper scoping. A serious firm asks structured questions before quoting.
  • Promised 4-week Type II. Not credible. Type II needs a 6+ month observation window.
